Tuesday PIR 2019 Season Announcements

We are one week from the 2019 Tuesday PIR series opener. Somethings have changed and lots has stayed the same. Please give below a quick read to get the scoop on what to expect for 2019.

MAY CASTELLI TEAM COMPETITION
To kick things off this year, Castelli is stepping up with a $1000 cash prize for the winner of the Team Competition. This competition is a winner takes all. We strive to make this competition fair for a wide variety of team sizes, but the key is having strong riders in each of the fields for your best chances at winning. Full details can be found on our site: http://tuesdaynightpir.com/home/2019/4/team-comp

JUNIORS RACE FOR FREE
Thanks to Castelli yet again, juniors race for free all year. Any category all year long. We also have some custom jerseys just for the juniors at the race thanks to Castelli. Please encourage all the young ones to come out and race. Come by registration to sign juniors up for free.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We need some registration help. Help us get riders checked in, sign waivers, process OBRA memberships, and make sure all runs smoothly and you get to race for free. Shift is from 6pm-6:35pm. As long as you are racing the 3/4s or the 1/2/3s, we'll make sure you have plenty of time to hop into your race. Contact me if you are interested.

SEASON AND TEAM PASSES
We have season and team passes available on our site. Please click this links or contact us directly to purchase: http://tuesdaynightpir.com/passes. All season and team pass holders will get discounted entry and a discount code that can be used to register online or quickly at the race.

Once again we are keeping pre-reg at $15 (compared to $20 at the race) and keeping online reg open until 3pm the day of. If you pre-reg, you are all set and can just show up and race. If you can't make it for some reason, shoot us an email to let us know so we can take you off the registration list. We compare registration with results, so anyone not on reg or who registered for the wrong day we'll reach out to directly. I'll send out a weekly reminder with the reg link, number placement, and all the other friendly reminders and updates the week of the race.

SPONSORS
Castelli has been one of the lead sponsors of Tuesday PIR for the past 8 years. 2019 is no exception. The company is stepping up big this year by offering the May Team Competition prize of $1000, jerseys to the monthly series winners of each field, and paying race entry for all juniors throughout the year. Castelli has been a cornerstone of the OBRA racing community and continues to help make Tuesday PIR possible year after year.

Taxmatterspdx is a full-service accounting firm serving clients throughout the area, dedicated to providing our clients with professional, personalized services and guidance in a wide range of financial and business needs. Taxmatterspdx has been helping this race series for the past 7 years with professional tax advice and business planning.

10 Barrel Brewing has worked with us for the past 3 years. They help sponsor our team competitions and keep all our racers hydrated. It has been awesome working with such a great group.

OTTOLOCK is back again for 2019. They are generously helping to sponsors the David Oliphant series in June with 10 HEXBAND Ottolocks and Pro Mounts. These locks are awesome and will keep your bike safe while you enjoy burritos and beers after the race. We'll have more details as we get closer to June on how you can win.

El Burrito Azteca has long been one of the most popular post PIR spots. Who doesn't like to finish a night of racing off with burritos and beers? They stepped up again this year and are offering burrito prime gift cards. If you win a prime in your race, come see us at reg. We'll have a card you can use to claim your free burrito.

2019 Castelli Team Competition Explanation.

We are starting the season off with a big $1000 cash purse for the team competition thanks to Castelli. With that, we also wanted to be very clear on how the team points competition is scored.

The points you earn in each race based off hot laps and finishing placing decide your place at the end of the night. We assign the following points to riders based off their placing on the night:

1st. 25
2nd. 18
3rd. 15
4th. 12
5th. 10
6th. 8
7th. 6
8th. 4
9th. 2
10th. 1

For the team competition we only take the top two placings from each team and add them up. Here is an example of how that breaks down:

1st. 25 - US Postal
2nd. 18 -  T-Mobile
3rd. 15 -  T-Mobile
4th. 12 - Robobank
5th. 10 -  Giacobazzi-Nonantola
6th. 8 - US Postal
7th. 6 - T-Mobile *
8th. 4 - US Postal *
9th. 2 - Robobank
10th. 1 - US Postal *
* = do not count towards total

In this example, here is what the nightly points totals would look like:
US Postal = 33
T-Mobile = 33
Robobank = 14
Giacobazzi-Nonantola = 10

Interestingly, we have a tie in this case, so who wins? US Postal does because in the event of ties, we look towards placings. Most number of 1st places, most number of 2nd places, etc till the tie is broken.

For May, we are adding up all the points from the 4/5s, 3/4s, and 1/2/3s, so teams represented in all the fields are those most likely to place well.

We answer questions about this every year, so I thought having a more formal explanation might help. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.
